Most people who use our tools are students, so we built them to collect as little as possible. This page says exactly what happens to what you type.
No accounts
We never ask for your name, email, or school.
Rules check
We don't store your study
Your description, answers, and results stay in your browser. We don't save them on our servers, and they're gone when you close the page unless you keep a share link.
Your description is sent to Anthropic
To fill in some answers for you, we send your description to Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. We don't log or keep it. Anthropic deletes it within 30 days and doesn't use it to train its models. It may keep it for up to 2 years if its automated safety systems flag it, or longer if the law requires.
If you'd rather not send it, choose Skip and answer the questions directly. The check works the same way; you'll just answer more questions.
Share links
A share link holds your answers in the part after the #. Browsers don't send that part to any server, including ours. Anyone you give the link to can see your answers. Your description is never in the link.
"This looks wrong" reports
A report sends your answers, your results, and your note, but not your description, to the Science Fair Alliance rules steward. It is stored as an issue in a private GitHub repository so the rules can be fixed. Please don't put names or your school in the note.
Project coach
Your conversation stays in your browser
The conversation and your project summary are saved only in this browser on this device, not on our servers. Anyone who uses the same browser can see them. Start over deletes them, and so does clearing your browser's site data. Save conversation for Form 2A saves a text file straight to your device; it doesn't pass through our servers.
Your messages are sent to Anthropic
To reply, we send the conversation so far to Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. Updating your summary sends it again. We don't log or keep it. Anthropic's terms are the same as for the rules check: it deletes the data within 30 days and doesn't use it to train its models, but may keep it for up to 2 years if its automated safety systems flag it, or longer if the law requires. Please don't include names or personal details, yours or anyone else's.
Checking the rules from the coach
Check the rules for this study passes your summary to the rules check inside your browser. From there, the rules check works as described above.
Hosting
The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles each request and sees your IP address. We don't use cookies, analytics, or ads.
To keep anyone from running up our AI costs, we count how many times each network address uses the coach, the description reader, and the report form. The count is stored under a scrambled form of the address, not the address itself, and it is deleted within twenty minutes.
